I recently bought a new laptop, a Lenovo E14, which I was delighted with, except that periodically the screen would flash severely. The solution was obvious – it was clearly a driver problem, so I installed all the latest drivers – but the problem didn’t go away.
After a while I realised that this wasn’t a general problem but it was in fact specific to the Google Chrome browser (I use that quite a lot) so I did some more searching. There are some articles suggesting that you need to set a solid colour as the new Windows background, but that didn’t fix it. But in the end I discovered that if I disabled hardware acceleration then that solved the problem. I occasionally use Bing and I had the same problem there, so I disabled hardware acceleration in Bing too. After that I was much happier – phew!
